The Tier 4 Student Visa is broken up into two categories, ‘Child’ Students (applicants 4-15 years) and Adult/General’ Students (applicants over 17 years)

Applicants aged 16-17 years have the option of applying under either category. You and your approved education provider should agree whether you need to apply for an adult or child student visa.

Note that if you come over as a Child Student, you must be coming to the United Kingdom to be educated at an independent fee-paying school.

UK border agencies have recently launched a crackdown on bogus/fraudulent college applications, so ensure that the institution has registered with UK Border Agency as a sponsor.

Here’s how to score this visa to study your way to success:
The institute that you’re wishing to study at needs to be a licensed sponsor (approved by UK Border Agency as a sponsor).
• Have a visa letter from the institute
• Have sufficient funds to cover the first year course fees and 9 months living costs.
• Documents used to get your letter of offer from the institution

Are you permitted to work?
Yes, you are permitted to work for up to 20 hours a week during term time

How long you can stay?
The length of you visa will be for the duration of your course plus a short period after. Exactly how long depends on the length of your course, for example if your course is 12 months or more, your visa will be valid for the course duration plus 4 months at the end of your course.
